East Alabama Parents: Auburn police are stepping up patrols near the Solamere neighborhood after a mother reports a stranger offered her child a ride.

Thursday afternoon the mom told police her juvenile son reported an older lady in a white van had offered him a ride while he was outside playing in the neighborhood. The child declined and the lady drove off.

The child told his parents, who filed a police report. Police are looking into the situation and patrols have been stepped up in the area out of an abundance of caution.

As always, Auburn Police encourage you to speak with your children often about stranger dangers and caution them to NEVER get into a vehicle or go anywhere with someone they don’t know. Also, please report suspicious activity of any kind as soon as you can to police.
