AUBURN, Ala.- The research website, Value Penguin says that Auburn is the ninth safest city in Alabama among cities with more than 20,000 people.

The site looked at 2014 FBI Crime statistics to come to their ranking.

They looked at 83 cities in the state, and found that of cities that have at least 5,000 people, Auburn is the 25th safest.

The city says they always enjoy receiving these kind of rankings, and they plan to take this ranking and see what they can do to maintain and better their high status.

Auburn student Madison Hutto says she feels very safe in the city, and these rankings solidify why she lives in the city and why she would like to continue living there.

“I feel like it’s part of my home,” Hutto said. “It is my home. It’s become my home over the past couple of years. It makes me want to consider coming back in the future. If I get married and have children, then this is definitely an option. It just feels like home.”
