AUBURN, Ala (WRBL) – Auburn police confirm a 17-year-old Auburn High School student was arrested for allegedly being disorderly after a Friday morning incident at the high school.
Students and parents tell News 3 there was some sort of fight during drop-off. We are still trying to confirm details with officials. News 3 reached out to Auburn City School leaders who issued this statement:
“Traffic at Auburn High School was redirected this morning because of a student disciplinary action and has since been resolved with operations of that campus resuming as normal.”
The arrest and incident happened just one day after Auburn City School Superintendent Dr. Karen DeLano sent out a message to parents regarding an email threat. There is no indication the two incidents are related.
“It was brought to our attention that a threat was made toward a campus today (Thursday) via an email communication. Upon further investigation, with immediate action and assistance from the Auburn Police Department, the threat has been proven to be false. Following a thorough search, the threat has since been neutralized and determined to be from a scam account, per APD. If you or someone you know receive a message containing any threat, please report it to your campus administrator to verify its validity as it may be related to today’s false threat. We have since had several more that appear to be email spoofing,” said Dr. DeLano.
The Superintendent added she is thankful to all the parents for helping them keep students safe and says matters like this are always taken seriously.
