Biggers Road closed in north Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) - According to Columbus Public Works Director, Pat Biegler Biggers Road continues to be closed for Monday in north Columbus.

Biegler tells News 3 that they received around 30 calls of trees down and roads blocked from Sunday's storms.

Biggers Road is the only road closed in Muscogee County. Five crews have been dispatched to the effected areas and downed power lines are complicating the Biggers Road clean-up.

Biegler could not provide an estimated time of clean-up.

The City of Columbus says citizens with down trees can place trees and debris on the curb without charge through Thursday April 4, 2019.

All trees and debris must be cut into lengths of four feet or less and placed on curbside for collection away from power lines or other fixed structures.

Columbus residents living on private roads and those who wish to dispose of their own trees and yard debris can transport it to Granite Bluff Landfill on River Road, but will need to contact 311 to receive a certificate of approval to have the tree for fee waived at the landfill.
