A Smiths Station Boy Scout is planning a project to better his community.
Austin Elliot is looking to achieve the ultimate rank of Eagle status.
His project involves landscaping around the Smiths Station High School softball fields. Plans indicate planting bushes and trees around the field and painting murals.
Elliot says he spoke with coaches at the school to come up with the project.
“There was an F1 tornado that came through here and it destroyed the place and we’ve kind of built up everything and the buildings are back, but it’s lost a lot of its beauty, so we are just hoping to bring it back and bring Smiths Station back to a beautiful place,” says Elliot.
Elliot says the next step is getting the approval from the Boy Scouts of America at meeting scheduled for June 14th.
