According to school board chair Kia Chambers, when it comes to Monday’s vote, two Muscogee County school board members voted ‘yes‘, while six members voted ‘no and there was one abstention.

Incentive talks come on the heels of several school bus issues in the district including: reports of overcrowding causing some students to sit on the school bus floor and several complaints of delayed bus pickups and drop-offs.

A topic of main discussion Monday was the proposal of John Thomas, District 2 school board member.

Part of his incentive includes: raising bus driver’s pay to $17/hour.

Many of the board members say they need more clarity on Thomas’ proposal.

The board plans to revisit, incentive talks at some point next month.

Most of the board does agree an increase in pay to select bus driver employees, is in order.

Coming up on the Nightwatch, a full breakdown of this issue that was addressed at tonight’s school board meeting.
