BREAKING: Valley Police say a pedestrian has been killed on Fairfax Bypass

VALLEY, Ala (WRBL) –Valley Police say a pedestrian has been killed on Fairfax Bypass near the Chattahoochee Humane Society.

Police say the deadly incident happened at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Police say when they arrived they found the 46-year-old pedestrian was dead on the scene.

According to the press release, the driver says he was traveling south at 55 mph when the pedestrian stepped in front of the car to cross the street. The driver told police he tried to avoid hitting the pedestrian but was unable to do so.

Police say a witness who was behind the car confirmed that the pedestrian stepped out in front of the vehicle. The witness said the vehicle did swerve in an attempt to avoid hitting the pedestrian.

Valley Police say the pedestrian will be taken to Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The name of the pedestrian is not being released at this time pending the notification of his family.
