“Brick by Brick” fundraiser for veterans home in Phenix City

Local News

Branches Homes for Veterans is building a home in Phenix City, but there is a need for community support.

The “Brick by Brick” fundraiser is selling personalized bricks. The bricks will be displayed on the walkway, water fountain and flag pole base at the home.

The project was started by Modell McKenzie, owner of Branches Homes for Veterans. McKenzie saw a need within the community and decided to act.

“There’s a lot of veterans here in this area. They need placement,” McKenzie says. “They need homes.”

The construction at 1711 21st Ct., in Phenix City is the second veterans home for McKenzie. She started her first home at 1214 13th Avenue in 2014.

Bricks for the fundraiser come in two sizes and can be purchased for $100 and $250. Monetary donations without the purchase of a brick are welcome.

Information on donations and the project can be found at http://www.brancheshomesforveterans.org/
