Bruce Willis headed to Columbus to film new movie

Local News

Columbus is delivering on its promise to become a primary destination for the film and television industry.

Mayor Skip Henderson held a news conference today to tell the people of Columbus that Bruce Willis is headed here to star in a movie called “The Long Night”.

Pre-production will begin on May 13.

This will be the first-ever major film production funded by the newly created Columbus Film Fund and the production team will consist of many local graduates and students from the Georgia Film Academy.

“It’s going to be interesting to see just how much it means. I think I heard them say it’s an 8 million dollar film that they’re anticipating. They don’t know yet but they think somewhere in the neighborhood of 2-4 million dollars just because of the local spend that will take place,” Mayor Henderson says.

The Columbus Film Commission announced its plan to position Columbus as the state’s third film hub during the “Choose Georgia’ event during this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
