Local News

A candlelight vigil was held for a beloved Columbus man who was shot and killed early Sunday morning on Hamilton Road.

Family and friends gathered with balloons and candles to remember 53-year-old Garrett McFarland. They were sad for a moment and then tears turned into joy.

About a hundred people gathered at the Hamiltion Road Dollar General to pay their respects to Gary.

Many said they would cry for a moment but Gary would want them to be happy that he was in a better place. They repeated Gary’s favorite phrase: “I’ve got money to lend.. money to spend.. and more money coming in..”

Columbus police are still investgating the murder case.
