Providence Baptist Church allowed Greg Zanis to place 23 handmade crosses on their property to honor the victims in the deadly tornado in Lee County.
Zanis, who owns “Crosses for Losses”, says he started making the crosses on Sunday night. After 36 hours of hard labor, he packed up and drove from Illinois to Lee County, Alabama. All out of the kindness of his heart.
Each cross has the name and age of each victim, as well as a different bear to signify that each victim was different. He also left sharpies on each cross so family and friends could leave their messages.
Each family of a victim will receive a duplicate cross.
