The teachers at Beauregard Elementary School got a nice surprise today as they geared up to resume the school year.
Auburn Men’s basketball head coach Bruce Pearl and a few of his players and staff took time away from the hardwood to spend some time with faculty and staff.
It’s been a week since the devastating tornado hit Lee County and stole pieces of people’s lives. Beauregard schools closed in the aftermath of the storm.
Teachers returned to Beauregard Elementary School to gear up for the rest of the school year and found Coach Bruce Pearl waiting for them with barbecue.
“Right now, we need to figure out what we can do now and we really have to plan on what’s to be done in the future. That’s why we’re here,” Coach Pearl said.
Beauregard Elementary cchool lost one person in January, another in February, and they lost students in the tornado as well. So they thoroughly needed a pick me up. Coach Pearl says it wasn’t a difficult decision at all to come here.
“After basketball season, and next month and next year. This community needs to be rebuilt and they still need love,” the Auburn Basketball coach said.
Coach Pearl, a few players, and his staff will be back Tuesday to help motivate the students to continue the year strong.
“The kids come in at 7 o’clock and we want to be here to welcome them,” Coach Pearl said.
