Columbus City Councilor to be honored in Atlanta

Mimi Woodson will be recognized at 50 most influential Latinos

COLUMBUS, Ga (WRBL) - Evelyn "Mimi" Woodson has been named one of the 50 most influential Latinos in Georgia by the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Woodson, a Columbus Councilwoman since 1995 is no stranger to winning awards for her service to the community. This is one of two awards Woodson is receiving over the next week as she was recently told she will be receiving the Jack Brinkley, Sr. Lifetime Service Award.

Woodson remains humble despite all of the awards and says she wants to be a cheerleader for others so they know they can accomplish their goals.

Woodson is the first Latino elected to office in the state of Georgia, and attributes her leadership to her time in the Army as a WAC (Women's Army Corps) and her faith.
