The Columbus Department of Fire and EMS held a promotion ceremony, honoring new members and those who have served within the department.
25 employees successfully completed physical training and testing to be a part of this year’s ceremony. It took a lot of rigorous training for the members to get to this point. Officials say they are proud of everyone’s hard work and commitment to serve their community.
“Not only have these Firefighters, Sergeants, Lieutenants, Captains and Battalion Chiefs given up a lot, but some of their families. It’s a huge sacrifice they have to make to study and to prepare for this in our line of work,” says Ricky Shore, Columbus Fire Marshall.
Shores says this year’s ceremony was one of the largest the fire department has seen for quite some time.
