COLUMBUS: Kiwanis club hosts event fighting Opioid abuse

Local News

Health officials are continuing their ongoing battle with Opioid addiction locally and across the nation.

The Kiwanis Club of Columbus hosted a forum discussing the fight against Opioids. Regional Director Renee Ellmers says Georgia is one of the states that is being hit the hardest by drug abuse.

“It is hitting us very hard here. So that’s why it is so important that we make sure our local community understands what is available so that they can come together and really address the issue,” says Ellmers.

Nationwide, officials say 3.6 Billion Dollars worth of funding has been given to fight the Opioid crisis.
