UPDATE 12/08/21 12:55 A.M. — Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Elizabeth Allison has identified the victim of Tuesday night’s shooting as 39-year-old Walter Benjamin Christopher.

Christopher was transported from the scene to Piedmont Columbus Regional, where he was pronounced dead of a gunshot wound at 8:02 p.m.

His body will be sent to the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur, Georgia for an autopsy.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Columbus Police Department shared via Twitter an investigation has opened on a homicide that took place on Farr Road.

Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Elizabeth Allison can only confirm she has been called to the medical center at this time.

Chief of Staff Katina Williams confirms police responded to the scene of a shooting around 7:45 p.m. There was only one victim and no additional injuries reported.
