Columbus State University holds vigil for W.D. Feeney

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) - Columbus State remembered former student and staff member, W.D. Feeney with a vigil in honor of his life and legacy.

Hundreds of students, faculty and staff were present at the event with heavy hearts to reflect on Feeney's memory.

Many at the vigil said that he was a bright light and he never missed an opportunity to share that light with others.

Brandon Branigan, friend and coworker of Feeney, said, "one thing about my brother is that he always cared deeply about people. He was intentional. Never spared a moment to get to know you and go deeper with you and I just want to share that with people and also that he is challenging me to get to know people on a deeper level."

Branigan said Feeney's passing has left a deep hole in the lives of all he touched.

Those at the vigil were encouraged by speakers to honor Feeney's life by following the examples of kindness and perseverance he left behind.
