9:45 A.M. — The Muscogee County Coroner’s Office confirms a 65-year-old pedestrian was hit and killed by a car early Tuesday morning.

Chief Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley confirmed Mary Alice Gleghorn died of blunt force trauma to the head.

He says the coroner’s office has not been able to find family for Gleghorn since it appears she was part of a local homeless network. He hopes releasing her name may encourage someone to come forward.

Police tell News 3 the driver of the vehicle has not been charged at this time. Major J.D. Hawk says there is no evidence to suggest the driver was impaired.

He adds Gleghorn was not in the designated cross walk area at the time of the collision.
