UPDATE (June 30, 2021; 10 a.m.): Officials with Meriwether Fire and Rescue praised the coordinated efforts of first responders from three counties who responded to a structure fire at 55 Broad Street in Warm Springs, Ga.

One firefighter did suffer from “smoke exhaustion.” Officials told WRBL that firefighter was treated, transported to a nearby hospital, and is recovering well.

The building sustained significant smoke, fire and water damage to its interior, but from the outside, there are few signs of a major fire.

Officials said the excellent work of all four responding agencies confined the fire to the interior of the building, sparing adjoining buildings from serious damage.

In addition to Meriwether Fire and Rescue, crews from Manchester, Harris and Talbot Counties responded to the blaze.

WARM SPRINGS, Ga. (WRBL) – According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, fire crews have responded to a structure fire in Warm Springs.

GDOT reports the fire is at the intersection of Georgia 41 and Depot Street.

Details about the fire are limited at this time.

According to GDOT, all lanes in the area of the fire are blocked at this time. Its estimated they will reopen at midnight. Officials are asking everyone to avoid the area.
