COLUMBUS, Ga (WRBL) –In a press conference Thursday afternoon, Major J.D. Hawk revealed that one man is facing 375 charges in connection with car break-ins.

Detectives within the Columbus Police Department have been investigating a string of car break-ins at Columbus hotels since August.

Major Hawk revealed that 19-year-old Romano Copeland is facing hundreds of charges including Fleeing or Attempting to Elude, Obstruction, No State Driver’s License, No Proof of Insurance, Safety Belt Required, Striking a Fixed Object and more.

The Burglary and Theft Unit will be charging Copeland with 141 counts of Entering Automobile, seven counts of Criminal Attempt Entering Automobile, two counts of Theft by Taking (Motor Vehicle), 145 counts of Possession of Tools During the Commission of a Crime, 80 counts of Criminal Trespass (375 total charges).

CPD believes there was a co-conspirator involved. Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.

CPD says this case is still under investigation.
