Eufaula prepares for Alberto's impact

EUFAULA, Ala (WRBL) - First responders in Barbour County are on standby as they anticipate Alberto's impact.

"We want as little impact to the citizens of Eufaula as we possibly can," says Eufaula police officer, Sergeant Donald Brown.

Eufaula police offer safety tips ahead of the storm.

"We always ask in the event that a storm is coming, that you're prepared as far as ice, non perishable food that you might need in the event of power outages, batteries for your flashlights, up to date flashlights, whatever is working, any additional lighting you may need anything to make this as easy as possible once/if it happens," says SGT Brown, "We want people to be safe. We ask people that in the event that this storm does come through, don't drive if you don't have to, stay off the roads. There's going to be enough chaos in the event this happens and the roads get flooded, we want as little traffic on the road as possible and adhere to what we are telling you on our Facebook page. If a road is closed, please don't come to that road."

Eufaula police say to follow their Facebook page to learn of any road closures, and in case of emergency, shelter locations.

They also say to follow Barbour County EMA on Facebook as well.

SGT Brown says the social sites are updated regulary.
