EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: “Numerous” handguns and crossbows stolen from Chambley’s in Valley

VALLEY, Ala. (WRBL) – Valley police are searching for two masked men responsible for breaking into a popular sporting goods store in Chambers County and stealing numerous handguns and crossbows.

The burglary happened late Sunday night at Chambley’s in Valley, located just off 20th Avenue. George Chambley, the owner, is sharing the video with News 3 in hopes someone will recognize the suspects.

Inside, workers cleaned up broken glass from a shattered window. Sunday night, two masked men smashed the store’s front window and climbed inside. The break-in triggered the store’s alarm, but the thieves were in and out by the time police arrived.

“It’s someone who knew what they were looking for, knew what they wanted and went in and grabbed it and were gone,” said Major Mike Reynolds with the Valley Police Department.

It took about two minutes for the thieves to break in, smash two display cases, grab crossbows, several handguns and get out of the store. Valley Police aren’t releasing the exact number of stolen weapons. Police will say many crossbows and handguns were taken.

Police say they do have two persons of interest. Recovering the weapons are a top priority. Major Reynolds says they’re already in the wrong hands and there’s a concern the weapons could be used to harm an innocent person.

“If anyone has any information on this or they hear someone who is trying to get rid of a lot of guns or selling a gun for way less than it’s valued, our investigators would love to speak with you,” said Reynolds.
