ALABASTER, Ala. (WIAT) — The family of 4-year-old Sharon Smith is turning to the community in a time of tragedy for help to give “their princess” a proper burial.

Smith was killed late Monday just before midnight when a vehicle she was riding in was struck by a train at a crossing on Fulton Springs Road near the quarry in Alabaster.

CBS 42 spoke to Smith’s sister, who started a GoFundMe to help pay for the funeral costs.

The family tells us Sharon’s mom is doing okay–that she had surgery earlier and seems to be in the clear.

Smith’s sister-in-law Dominique tells us they just want to give Sharon the burial she deserves.

Sharon’s dad said she will be remembered as sweet, loving, full of energy, and capable of putting a smile on anyone’s face.

They sent us these photos of Sharon, her mom and her family:
