FIRST ON 3: Opelika police say “altercation” led to a driver being shot on Interstate 85

OPELIKA, Ala. (WRBL) – Opelika police say a man was shot during an “altercation” along Interstate 85 Wednesday morning.

Investigators say around 6:00 am, Opelika Police responded to the Emergency Room at East Alabama Medical Center about reports of a gunshot victim. The initial investigation revealed an altercation had taken place on the southbound side of Interstate 85 at or near Exit 60.

Police say the victim, a 53-year-old man, drove himself to the Emergency Room at EAMC where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries from a single gunshot wound.

Police say the case is still under investigation and no other details are being released at this time.
