First responders honored Thursday in Auburn

Local News

AUBURN, Ala.- Thursday morning, first responders were honored at a breakfast at the Auburn Early Education Center.

This was the first year the breakfast was held, and the school hopes to have it again. Its purpose was to not only thank the first responders for all they do day in and out. It also wanted to get the first responders acclimated to the facility if something were to happen.

Assistant Principal. Dyeatra Todd said the facility is different than other ones in the district in that it’s an eighth of a mile long building with pods off the main hallway. The breakfast allowed the responders to come in and get the lay of the land in the event something happened.

Todd said that the school is focused on safety for its students, and personnel being able to meet first responders will help in the event the school makes a call so the responders know who to look for.

“I can only imagine that when you get that call, you’re probably thinking through what’s going to happen when you get there,” Todd said. “I think just knowing the layout of the building itself is important, as well as knowing what face you’re looking for when you get there.”
