GBI identifies suspect in officer-involved shooting on 41st Street

09/15/17 5:16 p.m. — The GBI has identified the suspect in the officer-involved shooting.

The suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Manolito Lewis. Lewis will be charged with one count of aggravated assault on a police officer and convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Lews was treated and released from the hospital and booked into the Muscogee County Jail.


COLUMBUS, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirms to News 3 that they are investigating an officer-involved shooting Friday morning.

Columbus police say around 6 a.m. the Metro Narcotics Task Force was serving a search warrant at a home near 41st Street and Holly Avenue.

According to a release, when agents entered the home, one of the residents stood up and pointed a shotgun in the direction of the agents.One agent fired several shots and struck the individual in the leg.This is the second officer-involved shooting in two days in Columbus.
