Grubhub’s worldwide reach is expansive with more than 85,000 restaurants participating in over 1,600 cities, including London, England. However, they will have their work cut out to keep up with competitor Waitr, which has been established in Columbus since February and boasts more than 80 local eateries.

“Some of the restaurants we already work with work with Waitr as well, so we play nice in the sandbox and we also that cost matters to the consumers,” Grubhub Senior Communications Manager Natalie Gerke explains to News 3’s Mikhaela Singleton.

“We pride ourselves on price transparency and delivery with the best service for the lowest cost and given our scale, we do wanna offer diners with the most options and the best variety out there,” she goes on to say.

Local business owners already participating in Waitr say they see Grubhub’s integration into the Columbus community as a positive addition to the competitive market.

“If Grubhub starts to excel, then maybe Waitr can start to do some things that are better, and compete just like any other business that the more you have it, the better the competition is. So I think it’s good for Columbus,” says Michael Maldonado, Owner of Midtown Coffee House.

Gerke also tells News 3 Grubhub is just beginning in the area and executives are working to expand its reach into more restaurants. She says in the meantime, users can enjoy free delivery until August 21 using the promo code “TASTE18”.
