UPDATE 08/25/2021 3:11 p.m.— According to an update from Muscogee County Chief Coroner Buddy Bryan, the man found on the river banks has been identified as Andy Hanes.
UPDATE 08/17/2021 5:26 p.m.— Muscogee County Chief Coroner Buddy Bryan has confirmed it was a drowning.
UPDATE 08/17/2021 5:15 p.m.— Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Elizabeth Allison received a call at 3:10 p.m. in regards to a body being found on the Phenix City shoreline of the Chattahoochee River.
The 56-year-old, caucasian male was found on 505 13th Street.
Allison had no information about a cause of death or indication of foul play.
No identity has been released at this time.
The body will be sent to GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta for an autopsy.
UPDATE 08/17/2021 4:36 p.m.— Columbus Police Department Chief of Staff, Katina Williams, confirmed that a body was found on the bank of the Chattahoochee River, south of the 13th Street bridge on the Phenix City side.
Robbery and assault has been notified and will assume an investigation.
UPDATE 08/17/2021 4:14 p.m.— Muscogee County Chief Coroner Buddy Bryan has confirmed that they are on scene of a drowning that occurred in Georgia behind the Chattahoochee Brewing Company.
There has been no information released about the victim at this time.
PHENIX CITY, Ala. (WRBL) — Both Columbus Fire and EMS and Columbus Police Department were reported at the Chattahoochee Brewing Company.
