Hodges Drive murder suspect appears in court

COLUMBUS, Ga — A man accused of murdering another man during a party on Hodges Drive back in May appears in court Friday.

Police say 23-year-old Drevon Johnson escaped capture for several weeks before U.S. marshals tracked him down on July 8th to Jonesboro, Georgia — just 20 minutes south of Atlanta.

Johnson was taken into custody bu Clayton County deputies before being extradited back to Columbus.

Johnson stands accused of murdering 24-year-old Richard Collier during a house party on Hodges Drive on May 14.

Police say Collier was shot in the chest after an argument and died on the scene.

Johnson appeared before a judge at 9 a.m.
