Holidays Home for Heroes opens fireworks stand for fundraiser

A local non-profit group is hard at work preparing to send Fort Benning soldiers who could not otherwise afford the trip home for the holidays.

Holidays Home for Heroes, Inc., opened a fireworks stand in the parking lot of Walmart on Victory Drive.  They’ll be open from 10 am to 10 pm each day between now and Independence Day.

The proceeds raised will go toward helping soldiers in financial need get home come the Christmas season.

The group says if you’re planning your own fireworks display for the Fourth of July, you can stop by their stand for a wide selection and support a good cause.

“We’ve got everything from your small stuff, your ground crawlers, all the way up to your grand finale shows. We have something for every price range, every budget. You just let me know what you want, and we can put a package together for you,” said Travis St. John of Holidays Home for Heroes.

Holidays Home for Heroes says it fills a unique need in that it seeks to help soldiers get home based soley on financial hardships.

Most other groups that help soldiers with travel expenses require other criteria than just financial hardships.
