INSPIRED: East Alabama doctor shares one more "special delivery" before retiring

Lee Co., Alabama (WRBL)  - A beloved East Alabama OB/GYN shares one more “special delivery” before his retirement at East Alabama Medical Center.

Dr. Kraig Smith is a well known and respected OB/GYN in East Alabama. He’s retiring after 30 plus years from Labor and Delivery at EAMC.

Dr. Smith is a member of Route 66, a popular local band. During his retirement party, Dr. Smith used his musical talent to “deliver” a special song to the nurses who’ve worked alongside him over the years. The song is hilarious, full of love and respect for the nurses he appreciates so much. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
Dr. Smith will continue to practice gynecology at Lee OBGYN and teach students attending VCOM (Virginia College of Medicine) at the Auburn University Campus.

Dr. Smith attended medical school at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He joined Lee OB/GYN in 1989 after completing his residency. Dr. Smith is a Fellow in the College OB/GYN, Member American College OB/GYN, Member of the American Medical Association, former Chief of Staff at East Alabama Medical Center.

Dr. Smith and his wife, Candy, have four children and attend First Baptist Church Opelika and Auburn Community Church. His hobbies include playing music, woodworking, and golf. A little-known fact about Dr. Smith is his talent at making balloon animals.
