The Russell County Coroner Authur Sumbry Jr. positively identified 24-year-old Air’reyon Trice as the victim who was shot dead at the Greenleaf Apartments.

Investigators were called out to the Greenleaf Apartments Sunday morning after reports of shots being fired. On the scene, police found Trice dead in a sedan around 11 a.m. Police say witnesses heard what appeared to be an altercation between the victim and the suspect.

“Residents up there did say there was an altercation prior to the shots fired, but we are still looking for a motive,” says Lieutenant Donnie Thomas, Phenix City Investigation Squad.

Sumbry Jr. says Trice worked as a correctional officer. His body has been transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for a full autopsy.

Thomas says at this time they do not have a person of interest. If you have any information about this case, officials are asking you to call the Phenix City Police Department.
