Lagrange family in need after tree collapses on top of mobile home during recent storm

Local News

Tammy and Mangrom Brown describe the horror when a tree collapsed on top of their Lagrange mobile home.

“Me and my granddaughter was outside doing some work and we were getting the tools up before it rained and then there was a tree right by the trailer. The wind blew it straight up and landed on top of the mobile home,” Mangrom says

“It’s caving in! It’s caving! What do I do?  I didn’t know what was going on.” Tammy says

The family says Tammy was the only one inside when the tree collapsed.

“I thought maybe she got hurt or died in the mobile home,” Mangrom says.

Moments after the tree fell he made sure the granddaughter, Aleayah was safe before running inside to his wife.

“He came in, made Aleayah get in the van so that nothing else would happen to her. So he came in, helped me out and I said Oh my God. I’m glad that we’re all safe.” Tammy says.

Since the incident the family has been struggling to make ends meet.

Mangrom says he works two jobs: one full time and one part-time, working as many 12 hours, sometimes more a day.

The family is now staying at the Stay Lodge on Whitesville Road paying about $350 a week.

They say, they’re trying to replace the damaged mobile home but the cheapest ones cost about $38,000.

The family says Allstate only gave them $20,000 a new mobile home.

The family has put Mangrom’s sister, Sandra Conley Brown in charge of collecting any funds:

They can be sent to: 78 Freemand Rd, LaGrange, Ga 30240

Sandra can be reached at (706) 884-6662
