The LaGrange Police Department hosted international visitors last week. The group from the Republic of Georgia traveled to our Georgia–specifically, LaGrange– to learn about the department’s community policing practices.
The Republic of Georgia is nestled between Russia and Turkey.
The Georgian Delegation from the Georgia Ministry of Internal Affairs consisted of policymakers involved in planning and implementing change in police practices in the country.
LaGrange Police Chief Lou Dekmar hosted the group. Dekmar serves as the president of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
The group was drawn to LaGrange due to the overwhelmingly positive reputation the department maintains across the country and around the world for transparency and inclusiveness of citizens in police policy.
