Local ice cream shop bringing community staple back to Auburn

Local News

O Town tell stories of their community’s history through ice cream.

Their latest partnership with J & M Bookstore hopes to bring an old community staple back to the city of Auburn.

Following a few pop-up appearances in the past couple years, Sani-Freeze is set to make a comeback. O Town has trademarked the name and logo for Auburn’s old ice cream spot and will open a location in J & M.

Sani-Freeze first opened in the 1950’s, but closed it’s doors in the ’90’s.

Chris Georgie, co-owner of O Town understands the value of a community staple like Sani-Freeze and hopes O Town can be the staple of Opelika.

O Town is moving to a new location on 2nd Avenue in historic Opelika, a location which has been vacant for over 10 years.

“We can kind of be that business that restores it, and is the staple from now until 30 years from now,” George said.
