Everyone from U.S Presidents to the Pope, or just your everyday person knows one thing for sure — Ms. Aretha Franklin is the Queen of Soul.
Ms. Franklin sold 75 million records, won 18 Grammy’s, and had a voice that could bring world leaders to tears.
Celebrities across social media are paying their respects. Former President Obama, Mariah Carey, Hilary Clinton, Stevia Wonder, Smokie Robinson, Diana Ross, Elton John and so many more are sharing heartwarming posts about Ms. Franklin.
Ms. Franklin was probably your favorite celebrities – favorite celebrity.
She was one of the original diva’s and earned her respect.
Not only did she open up doors for women in the industry, she also did so much for the African American community. Her hit song, “Respect”, became the anthem during the Civil Rights movement.
One local Columbus singer says Ms. Franklin inspired her.
“When I looked on my phone on my news feed I was really sad because I listen to a lot of older music. Like my mom brought me up on a lot of older stuff,” says Rollins.
Ms. Franklins legacy spans across generations.
“I think she’s a living legend. I mean like she set some of the standards I go by. So I think that’s really important. Rest in peace Aretha,” says Rollins.
