Man dies in Valley after being hit by a vehicle

VALLEY, Ala. (WRBL) – Valley police say Thursday morning at approximately 6:30 AM, officers were called to a traffic accident on Fairfax Bypass near the Chattahoochee Humane Society involving a car and a pedestrian.

When police arrived they found a 46-year-old male pedestrian was dead on the scene.

The driver told police he was traveling south at approximately 55 mph when the pedestrian, who was walking south, stepped out in front of him, as if to cross the road. The driver stated he attempted to avoid striking the pedestrian but was unable to do so. A witness who was traveling behind the vehicle stated he saw the pedestrian step out in front of the vehicle in front of him. He stated he saw the vehicle swerved to try to avoid hitting the pedestrian.

The pedestrian will be taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The name of the pedestrian is not being released at this time pending the notification of his family.
