MAN IDENTIFIED: found with knife at Hogansville Elementary; No one threatened or injured

Police have identified the man as David Breazeal.

UPDATE:

Police say the man signed in at the front office and was supposed to go to the science room. However, the man went to the media center and staff escorted him back to the front entrance. Police say that’s when the staff contacted the police.

ORIGINAL STORY: 

HOGANSVILLE, Ga (WRBL) — The Hogansville Police Department is investigating a man who was found with a knife at an elementary school in Troup County Wednesday morning.

Police say the unknown man was in Hogansville Elementary Media Room. Police say the man had no reason to be at the school and was asked to leave. The elementary school did activate their security measures.

Police found the 51-year-old male and arrested him. The man was arrested for possession of a weapon of school property.

He was transported to Troup County Jail.

Police want to clarify that no student or staff member was threatened by the man, however, it is illegal to possess any weapon on school property in Georgia.

Hogansville Elementary has resumed their normal schedule as of 8:50 a.m.
