Man pleads guilty to taxi driver’s murder

A man connected to the shooting death of a local taxi driver has pleaded guilty to the charges against him.

Dontavis Screws, 22, pleaded guilty to murder and attempted robbery. 

In October 2016, Police say they found Dewayne Chronister shot inside of his cab and he later died at the hospital. 

Police say they arrested Screws two days later. 

Judge Gil McBride sentenced to 20 years for murder and 20 years for attempted robbery to be served at the same time. 

There were two other people charged in Chronister’s murder.
