New cemetery vandalism pictures surface

Local News

HARRIS COUNTY, Ga.- We have an update on a News 3 exclusive out of Harris County. Pictures of young people accused of vandalizing a cemetery from the 1800s are now starting to surface.

Scotty Smith reached out exclusively to News 3 with pictures gathered from his Sardis Cemetery surveillance.

One picture shows two people riding around. One person appears to be on an ATV the other appears to be riding a go cart. Another picture shows what looks like two people riding in another kind of vehicle.

The picture is black and white because it was taken at night time. The last picture that Scotty sent me looks like four people including a child riding in the back of a pick up truck.

Last week News 3 reported that the county is responsible for the cemetery. I reached to Harris County Sheriff Mike Jolley again about law enforcement’s efforts on the vandalism.

He says he’s willing to work with Smith in terms of collecting evidence. Jolley says he will only consider charging the people believed to be responsible if there is sufficient probable cause to commit a crime.
