News 3 now has new details in the shooting of 18-year-old Destinee Virgin.
Columbus Police confirm that 17-year-old Markel Ervin has been arrested in connection to Virgin’s murder.
CPD confirms Ervin was also the young man arrested in connection to Destinee’s disappearance for a few days back in April.

A shooting death investigation continues in Columbus as police search for a suspect.
Saturday night around 7:00 p.m. est, police say they responded to a shooting near Macon Rd. and Rigdon Rd.
On the scene, they say 18-year-old Destinee Virgin was found suffering from several gunshot wounds.
A missing persons report from April this year lists a then 17-year-old Virgin as gone. The Muscogee County Coroner’s Office confirms the woman in the report is the same as Saturday night’s victim.
News Three’s media partner, the Ledger-Enquirer reports Virgin was found within a few days and the incident led to charges against 17-year-old Markel Ervin.
In May, News Three reported Ervin was faced with charges of kidnapping and false imprisonment.
Following the shooting, the victim was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional where she succumbed to her injuries.
Police say the suspect fled the scene in Virgin’s car.
The vehicle is described as a gray Nissan Maxima with tinted windows and a paper tag.
Police have not identified a suspect, but say they are looking for a male between the ages of 17-21.
Virgin’s body is expected to undergo an autopsy Monday.
