Hundreds of new jobs are expected to come to Eufaula according the Eufaula Chamber of Commerce.
The Director of Economic Development, Jim Bradley, says a few industries in the area are expanding.
Keystone Industries is expected to bring 300 new jobs to Barbour County during their $50 million expansion.
Bradley says two other industries, Elm Machines and Forest Products have announced expansions also, looking to bring between 35-50 additional jobs.
In the midst of the industry growth, a pediatric clinic is adding on to its current building and bringing on additional staff to aide with growing patient numbers.
“Just over the time, our patient population has grown as well, and it’s gotten to where there is enough patients to sustain three providers, so that way everybody can get in the same day, and they aren’t having to wait until the next day to be seen. We can get them right on in,” says nurse practitioner Brad Addison with Eufaula Pediatric Clinic.
The Chamber of Commerce says along with the expansion of these industries, there are new fast food chain restaurants coming to the city. During the last city council meeting, the mayor announced a Dairy Queen and an American Deli is coming.
Bradley says the new jobs coming in should help with the city’s unemployment rate, which he says right now is one of the highest in the state.
