COLUMBUS, Ga (WRBL) – In response to the devastation unleashed by Hurricane Michael, WRBL News 3 will host a Hurricane Relief Drive on Thursday, October 18th from 11:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. at Chattahoochee Harley Davidson, located at 3230 Williams Rd. in Columbus.
The campaign will encourage News 3 viewers to make monetary contributions through the American Red Cross. They can do so by visiting wrbl.com and clicking on the Donate button located on the home page or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS or texting the word MICHAEL to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Donors can designate their donation to Hurricane Michael relief efforts by choosing that option when donating on 1-800-RED CROSS.
Cash donations are the best way to help the victims of the disaster, enabling the Red Cross to purchase the materials they need most, from medical supplies to building materials. Unlike donated goods, cash funds can quickly and easily reach the areas affected by a disaster.
News 3 will also be accepting items such as toiletries, diapers, new underwear and socks, First Aid items, cleaning supplies, latex or leather work gloves and hand sanitizer, which our partners at Chattahoochee Harley Davidson will transport to the hurricane relief centers set up in the impacted areas.
Hurricane Michael is the strongest storm to ever strike the Florida panhandle. Parts of northwest Florida, southeast Alabama and Georgia experienced destructive winds, heavy rainfall, and flash flooding as the storm cut a path across the region. Heavy flooding was reported in parts of the Carolinas and Virginia. Federal Emergency Management Agency leaders are calling the damage left by Hurricane Michael some of the worst they’ve ever seen.
