A 27-year-old Northside High School teacher was arrested Thursday on a sexual assault charge and booked into the Muscogee County Jail.

Kristin Davenport was charged with three counts of sexual assault by persons with supervisory or disciplinary authority, according to jail booking records.

The Muscogee County School District sent out a statement late Thursday night saying that there would be an 11 a.m. news conference to discuss the teacher’s arrest.

“The Muscogee County School District has been notified of a recent arrest of a teacher who has been accused of sexual misconduct with a person in custody,” the release stated. “The District is in full cooperation with law enforcement regarding this matter.”

The accused teacher has not been assigned to any school-based duties since April 19, 2019, following an anonymous report, which prompted an investigation by the Columbus Police Department, the release stated.

Davenport’s Facebook page says she has been a science teacher at Northside since August 2016.
