Local News

Authorities tell News Three the victim is in critical condition at Piedmont Columbus Regional.

News Three is working to learn if Columbus Police have identified any suspects.

A witness on the scene, who did not want to be identified, describes what he saw.

“Next thing you know, I see a friend of mine running out across the street holding his head. Before I could get up there, the police came, so I came back home. I don’t know what the incident was about. I was concerned about the small kids in the house.”

The witness explains why he doesn’t want to be identified.

“You know, I just don’t want to be on the news, because people do come back and do stuff to people who see things, and I don’t want to be one of them people,” says the witness, “This is my home, but you can’t stop that. It’s going to happen whether you live here, or in Grand Island Hills or Beaver Run. Kids these days do what they want to do and they parents ain’t doing nothing to stop them.”

Esquiline Drive is in the Benning Hills subdivision in the south Columbus region.

Authorities say another person was shot in the leg, only minutes away on Dean Rd. This makes four shootings in two days.
