Police: medical emergency leads to rollover accident in Columbus

Local News

Update (5:00 pm):

An undisclosed medical emergency apparently caused a two-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon on Airport Thruway, Columbus Police Lt. Lance Deaton said.

Two people were treated on the scene and transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown campus.

Authorities say an SUV carrying a passenger who was having a medical issue went through the red light at Airport Thruway and Sydney Simmons Boulevard, Deaton said. A car struck the SUV, triggering it to roll over.

The driver of the car suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The man in the SUV was the one having the medical emergency, Deaton said.
