How do you pay tribute to someone as special as your mom? This was my second Mother’s Day without her. She left us a year-and-half ago after battling liver cancer.
I wanted to do something that would honor her on this day after Mother’s Day, so here goes.
When I was growing up, I remember on several occasions my mom recited her favorite poem in church. She first heard it during a chapel service in high school. It impressed her so much she committed it to memory. Knowing what it meant to her, I wanted to get mom on video reciting the poem as a keepsake.
She agreed and nailed it on the first take. As a Christmas gift to mom and unbeknownst to her, I produced a video to go along with the poem. It was called “The Touch of the Master’s Hand” by Myra Brooks Welch.
