No bond has been set for Darius Travick. Travick is the suspect in the Victoria Drive murder that happened Monday. The case will be sent over to the superior court.
Travick pleaded not guilty in recorder’s court Friday morning.
COLUMBUS, GA (WRBL) – The Columbus Police department has arrested a suspect in connection to a murder on the 400 block of Victoria Drive on Monday.
Police arrested Darius Travick after police responded to a call in reference to people fighting with a nude male. Travick has been charged with murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
When the officers got there, they were told that Travick exited the home of 92-year-old John Dawson and then tried to get into Dawson’s car.
Police say several of Dawson’s neighbors confronted Travick in the yard because they knew he did not live at the Dawson residence. Afterward, a fight began when Travick attacked the neighbors.
Travick was taken into custody by the responding patrol units.
Officer say they performed a welfare check at the Dawson home where inside Dawson was discovered dead and his 89-year-old wife, Evelyn Dawson, was found beaten and stabbed.
Evelyn Dawson was transported to the Piedmont Regional Medical Center for her injuries.
Police say Travick was also taken to the Piedmont Regional Medical Center for evaluation
The Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The investigation has resulted in the following person being charged with:
Travick was booked into the Muscogee County Jail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Recorder’s Court on Sept. 28, at 09:00 a.m
