Three die in early-morning Opelika fire, authorities confirm

Opelika Fire Chief Byron Prather tells News 3 that three people have died in an early-morning mobile home fire along Frederick Road. 

The Opelika Fire Department and State Fire Marshal’s Office are still on the scene. The bodies will be sent to Montgomery for post-mortem examinations.

The fire happened in the 2500 block of Frederick Road. 

The victims have not been identified.

UPDATE: Lee County Coroner Bill Harris has released the names of the victims of the early-morning fire. The three victims were Betty Motley Foshee, 65, her sister Dawn Motley, 54, and their mother, Ann Motley, 83. 

The cause of the fire has still not been identified, but is not considered suspicious according to officials.
