TRAGIC UPDATE: Beloved Opelika woman killed in Lee Co. vehicle crash

Lee Co., Ala. (WRBL) -  An Opelika family and community are in mourning after a beloved East Alabama woman dies in a traffic crash in Lee County.

Coroner Bill Harris tells News 3, 47-year-old Sharron Robinson Fuller of Opelika died Friday night around 5:00 PM in a crash involving three vehicles. The crash happened along the eastbound lane of US Hwy 280 West near the Al Hwy 147 intersection. Lee County Deputy Coroner Charlotte Patterson pronounced Ms. Fuller dead at the scene.

Details are still unclear at this time. It appears Fuller was traveling east on US Hwy 280 when she may have slowed for a vehicle in front of her and struck that vehicle. Then, it appears, a roll back wrecker traveling behind Fuller's vehicle hit her vehicle from behind. The drivers of the other two vehicles were not believed to be seriously injured. Alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

The accident remains under investigation by the Lee County Coroner's Office and the Alabama State Troopers.

Friends of Fuller's family have reached out to News 3 to express their sorrow over her death. We are told Fuller was very active at her church, spending time mentoring and caring for youth groups. Fuller was a beloved mother and friend. Friends are asking for privacy and prayers at this time for the family.
